This fluted glass serving platter is a round, shallow platter in clear glass, 31.5 cm across and just 2.5 cm high. Narrow ribs radiate out from the flat centre across a wide rim to a softly rippled edge, so the glass itself provides all the pattern.

Size

At 31.5 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm high, the platter is broad and low. The ribbed rim takes up part of that width, so the flat centre is smaller than the overall diameter; if you are serving a tart, cheesecake or cake, check that its base will sit on the flat centre. The low rim makes it easy to lift portions off with a cake slice or serve from with tongs, and the slim profile takes up very little height in a cupboard.

A fluted rim

The fluted rim is made up of narrow, raised ridges that fan out from the centre, much like the pleats of a paper cake case. Light catches along every ridge, while the smooth, flat centre keeps the food in clear view. There is no print, colour or metallic edge, only the texture moulded into the clear glass.

Tarts, cheesecakes and cakes

The flat centre suits round bakes that fit within the rim: a fruit tart topped with berries and apricots, a lemon or berry cheesecake, a chocolate layer cake or a sponge filled with cream and strawberries. With a knife and a cake slice, portions come straight off over the low rim.

Pastries, éclairs and afternoon tea

For afternoon tea or a weekend breakfast, lay out croissants and pastries, éclairs, macarons and slices of mille-feuille in a ring around the platter, so that everyone can see what there is before they choose.

Fruit, cheese and savoury sharing plates

On the kitchen worktop it makes a generous glass fruit platter. At the table, it works for a cheese board with olives, a plate of sliced cold meats, or sliced roast beef and vegetables arranged for sharing.

Around the home

Away from mealtimes, it can sit on a hall table or sideboard as a catch-all for keys, rings and everyday odds and ends, where the ribbed glass looks more deliberate than an ordinary dish.

Care

It is dishwasher safe, and if you prefer to wash it by hand, a soft brush reaches easily between the ridges of the rim.

Good to know

With a total height of 2.5 cm and a low rim, the platter is designed for food that sits on the plate rather than for anything very runny. It is sold on its own, without a lid or stand.

A rim that catches the light

A wide, shallow platter in clear glass, with a deeply fluted rim moulded into the piece. It reads as decorative when empty and disappears politely once there is food on it.

The platter holding apples, pears and grapes on a sunlit kitchen worktop

Every day

A fruit bowl that lies flat

At only 2.5 cm high nothing is buried at the bottom, so apples, pears and grapes stay visible and get eaten. Left on a worktop it works as much as an ornament as a bowl.

Pastries, laid out properly

Croissants and Danish pastries need room rather than depth. The wide flat base takes eight or nine without stacking, and the low rim means nothing has to be lifted out.

At dinner

Durable and timeless

Wide enough to carry a roast to the table as readily as it holds a tart. The fluting works just as well under a savoury course as a sweet one.

  • For tarts and cakes

Wide enough for a whole tart, with the rim clear of the pastry.

Helpful Product Information

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the platter?

It measures approximately 31.5 cm across and only 2.5 cm high, or 12.5 inches wide. The wide, shallow proportions give plenty of presentation space while keeping everything on it easy to reach.

Does the low rim keep food on the platter?

The gently raised edge is enough to contain what is on it without obstructing a serving spoon or a cake slice. Because the platter is shallow rather than bowl-shaped, food is lifted straight off the surface instead of out over a wall.

Is the fluted rim moulded into the glass?

Yes. The radiating ridges are moulded into the piece itself, creating a fan-inspired effect that catches the light around the edge. There is no applied trim and no printed pattern, so nothing can lift or wear away.

What can I serve on it?

Tarts, cheesecakes, cupcakes, pastries and biscuits all suit the flat centre, and it works equally well for savoury food such as cheese, appetisers, sandwiches, sushi or bread. The clear ribbed glass shows colourful food particularly well.

Does it work as a fruit bowl?

It does, and the shallow shape is the reason. At only 2.5 cm high nothing gets buried at the bottom, so apples, pears and grapes stay visible and actually get eaten rather than forgotten under the top layer.

How do I clean the fluted rim?

Wash with warm water and a soft cloth, working around the flutes with the grain of the moulding. The ridges are broad and open rather than finely cut, so there is nothing awkward to reach into.

How does it differ from the 32.2 cm scalloped platter?

This one has a deeply fluted rim of radiating ridges and sits slightly narrower at 31.5 cm, with a shallow 2.5 cm profile. The scalloped platter is a touch wider with a lotus-inspired wave edge. Both are flat clear glass, so the choice comes down to which rim you prefer.

Is it a good choice for someone who bakes?

It is a natural choice for a baker or anyone who likes to have people round, and it reads as decorative even when it is empty. That makes it easy to give without knowing exactly how it will be used.
