These Turkish tea glasses come as a set of six in clear glass, each with a pinched waist and a full, rounded base. Every glass stands 8.4 cm high and measures 5.5 cm across the rim: a small, traditional size for strong tea poured from the pot and topped up as it goes round.

What you get

You get six glasses and nothing else: there are no saucers, teaspoons, teapot or tray. If you already have saucers or a tray for serving tea, the glasses simply join them.

Size

Each glass is 8.4 cm tall with a 5.5 cm rim, and holds up to 145 ml when filled to the brim, although tea is usually poured a little below the rim. The short height and narrow rim make it a glass for small servings, held between finger and thumb at the waist rather than by a handle.

A rounded tulip shape

Compared with a straighter tea glass, this one has a deeper, rounder base below the waist and a gently flared rim above it, which gives the glass a soft, bell-like outline. With tea inside, the colour gathers in the rounded lower half, so a tray of six glasses looks good whether it holds a light golden infusion or a deep, strong black tea.

Serving tea

Brew the tea strong in the upper pot of a Turkish double teapot, pour a little into each glass and top it up with hot water from the lower pot, so that each person decides how strong their tea should be. Six glasses will see a family through breakfast or serve a handful of visitors, set out on a tray beside a plate of pastries, dried figs or biscuits. They work just as well for mint, fruit or herbal teas, and sit just as comfortably in Persian and Arabic-style tea service.

Care

The glasses are dishwasher safe. If you wash them by hand instead, leave them to drain or dry them with a lint-free cloth so that they stay clear.

Good to know

The glasses have no handles, so the glass itself warms up when it is filled with hot tea. Hold each one at the waist or near the rim, as is usual with Turkish tea glasses.

Six glasses, made in Europe

Tea, in the shape it has always taken

The waisted silhouette is the hallmark of a Turkish tea glass: the narrow middle holds the heat in the base while the flared rim stays cool enough to lift, and the clear glass shows the colour of the brew at its best.

Poured

Six glasses, one pot

Enough for a full table without borrowing from the kitchen cupboard. Every glass is the same clear form, so a tray of six looks considered rather than collected.

Every afternoon

Made for the everyday

Loose leaf or bagged, strong or light — the glasses are small enough that the tea stays hot to the last mouthful, and just the thing alongside a plate of biscuits.

Helpful Product Information

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the glasses come with saucers?

No. This is a set of six Turkish tea glasses only. Saucers, teaspoons, serving trays and any other accessories shown in styled photographs are not included, so please order those separately if you need them.

How much does each glass hold?

Each glass holds 145 ml (5 fl oz), a generous traditional pour for black tea, fruit tea or a herbal infusion. It is a small enough serving that the tea stays hot to the last mouthful.

What size are the tea glasses?

Each glass measures approximately 8.4 cm high and 5.5 cm across the rim. That is a compact, easily handled size that stacks neatly in a cupboard and sits comfortably on a tray.

Why is the glass narrower in the middle?

The slim waist is the hallmark of the classic tulip shape used for Turkish tea for generations. It keeps the heat in the rounded base while the flared rim stays cool enough to lift, and gives a natural place to hold each glass.

Can I use them for coffee as well as tea?

Yes. As well as tea and herbal infusions, the glasses suit espresso, Turkish-style coffee and small desserts. Clear glass shows the colour of whatever is poured, which is part of the appeal of serving in glass rather than a cup.

Are these suitable as Arabic or Persian tea cups?

They are. The waisted form is shared across Turkish, Arabic and Persian tea service, so the same glasses work for all three. Because every glass is identical, a tray of six looks considered rather than assembled from odds and ends.

How should I care for them?

The glasses are dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe when handled according to appropriate glass-care guidance. As with any glassware, avoid sudden extreme changes in temperature.

Would a set of six make a good gift?

Six is a practical number for family tables, visitors and tea parties, which makes the set a straightforward choice for a housewarming, a wedding or an anniversary. It also suits anyone who already enjoys tea and would use the glasses every day.
